This app-specific policy supplements the BlackFox Media LLC master Privacy Policy at https://www.blackfox-media.com/privacy-policy and governs WatchTower, which focuses on surveillance camera mapping. 

PRIVACY-FIRST SUMMARY

WatchTower maps publicly documented surveillance cameras while ensuring your location data security. We do not operate servers that collect your data, require an account, or run any analytics or tracking. Your location is used solely on-device, meaning that WatchTower's network requests connect only to the public data sources listed below.

INFORMATION WE DO NOT COLLECT

- Identifying information (name, email, phone, address)

- Your communications, files, microphone, or camera content

- Behavioral analytics, telemetry, or persistent identifiers

- Biometric identifiers

- Your location is never transmitted to BlackFox

DEVICE LOCATION

- Foreground: location is read via FusedLocationProviderClient solely to center the map. It is not transmitted to us.

- Background (optional): granting ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION enables the Android OS Geofencing API for proximity alerts; the app does not access raw background location.

- You may revoke location permissions at any time.

PUBLIC DATA SOURCES (requested directly from your device)

- OpenStreetMap Overpass API (overpass-api.de)

- DeFlock.me (ALPR locations)

- EFF Atlas of Surveillance (atlasofsurveillance.org)

- Government transport agencies (e.g., Caltrans, WSDOT, FL511, and others in the US, Canada, and Finland)

When fetching these sources or live camera images, your device makes direct HTTPS requests, so your IP address is visible to those operators. Nothing is proxied through BlackFox.

MAP TILES

Vector map tiles are served by OpenFreeMap (tiles.openfreemap.org); their logging policy applies to those requests.

LOCAL STORAGE

- SQLite (via Room): camera locations and metadata

- DataStore: your preferences

- OkHttp cache (50MB maximum): reduces redundant downloads

All of this is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its storage.

NOTIFICATIONS

POST_NOTIFICATIONS is used for proximity alerts only. Notifications are generated locally; we send no marketing or promotional notifications.

THIRD-PARTY SDKs

None. WatchTower contains no advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs.

YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS

Because we do not collect or store your personal data on any server, most data-protection rights are honored automatically. At any time you can uninstall the app, clear its storage, and revoke permissions. Residents of California (CCPA/CPRA), the EEA/UK/Switzerland (GDPR), Canada (PIPEDA/Quebec Law 25), Brazil (LGPD), Australia, and New Zealand have additional rights; because we hold no personal data about you, our response to a verifiable request will confirm that none exists. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

WatchTower is an adult tool, is not directed to children under 13 (16 where applicable), and we do not knowingly collect information from children. Contact support@blackfox-media.com with any concern; we hold no user data to delete.

DATA SECURITY

Your device is the primary security boundary. WatchTower relies on the platform permission and sandboxing model and stores local data in its private app area, inaccessible to other apps. On rooted devices, these guarantees may not hold.

CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this policy to reflect changes to the app, its data sources, or the law. Material changes are reflected in the Last Updated date and noted in the in-app About/Read Me screen. Continued use constitutes acceptance.

GOVERNING LAW

Governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules; disputes brought exclusively in Texas courts except where mandatory law provides otherwise.
