This app-specific policy supplements the BlackFox Media LLC master Privacy Policy at https://www.blackfox-media.com/privacy-policy and governs GED Ready, a free, ad-supported GED exam-preparation study tool covering all four subject tests.
Privacy Summary
GED Ready runs directly on your device. There are no accounts and no login, and BlackFox Media does not gather personal information or implement BlackFox analytics. Your study progress, statistics, flagged questions, and settings remain stored locally only. The only data collection is performed by Google AdMob, which serves the ads that keep the app free.
About This App
GED Ready is a free, ad-supported study tool covering all four GED subject tests - Reasoning Through Language Arts, Mathematical Reasoning, Science, and Social Studies. There is no paywall, no subscription, and no locked content: every question, lesson, and reference sheet is available from the first launch.
It is an independent educational study aid. It is not official GED preparation material, not a substitute for an accredited course, and no score or credential outcome is promised or implied. Every practice question and lesson is original work written by BlackFox Media LLC against the published GED Testing Service Assessment Guide for Educators content targets, and each item carries a citation to the specification it was written against.
Information We Do Not Collect
- Accounts, names, emails, phone numbers, or addresses
- Precise location (beyond the coarse, IP-derived geolocation used by Google AdMob)
- Microphone, camera, contacts, or files
- Biometric information
- Study analytics or telemetry collected by BlackFox
BlackFox Media itself receives only aggregate, non-identifying advertising reports from Google.
Advertising
This information is handled by Google as an independent controller under its own policies. BlackFox receives only aggregate, non-identifying reports. With your permission, this data supports personalized ads — this is "tracking" as Apple defines it. Your choices: on iOS, the app asks your permission on first launch via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, and you can change it at any time in Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Tracking; on Android, use Settings -> Privacy -> Ads -> Delete advertising ID, or opt out of Ads Personalization. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, a Google consent form is shown before any ads are served, and the app's "Ad privacy" option lets you review or change consent at any time. Google-wide controls: https://adssettings.google.com. Google's Privacy Policy governs this data: https://policies.google.com/privacy
The app reserves layout space for the banner so it never covers content or a control, and if an ad fails to load the app continues to work normally. The study content itself works without a network connection.
Third-Party SDKs
Google AdMob only. The app contains no analytics or tracking SDKs.
Data & Storage
- Local data only: practice and simulator results, accuracy by topic, missed and flagged questions, lessons opened, and a mute-sound preference are stored on your device. You can erase all of it with "Reset all progress" on the in-app Stats screen.
- Permissions: none beyond install defaults, plus network access required to load ads.
- Third-Party SDKs: Google AdMob (advertising). No analytics or other tracking SDKs.
- Distribution: Google Play and the Apple App Store.
Apple App Store Privacy (iOS)
(a) App Tracking Transparency (ATT): This title serves Google AdMob ads that can use the IDFA for personalized advertising, so the app presents the App Tracking Transparency prompt on first launch, before the Google Mobile Ads SDK is initialized. If you allow, ads may be personalized; if you decline, ads are non-personalized and every feature of the app remains available.
(b) App Privacy "nutrition label": Our App Store privacy label declares the data that Google AdMob collects — Identifiers (Device ID), Usage Data (Advertising Data, Product Interaction), Diagnostics, and Coarse Location — used for Third-Party Advertising. The Device ID and Advertising Data are declared as "used to track you" because, with your ATT permission, they support personalized advertising; none of this data is linked to your identity by BlackFox.
(c) Privacy Manifest (PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy): The app includes a privacy manifest that declares the AdMob SDK's data types and its required-reason API usage.
Your Privacy Rights
BlackFox holds no personal data about you, so most data-protection rights are honored automatically. Users may uninstall the app or clear its storage to remove locally stored data. Residents of California, the EEA/UK/Switzerland, Canada, Brazil, Australia, and New Zealand have additional rights. Data collected by Google AdMob is controlled by Google; direct those requests to Google via https://adssettings.google.com and https://policies.google.com/privacy. To exercise rights with BlackFox, email support@blackfox-media.com (typical response: about 45 days).
Children's Privacy
GED Ready is intended for adult learners and high-school-equivalency candidates preparing for the GED test and is not directed to children under 13 (or 16 where applicable). BlackFox does not knowingly collect information from children. Guardians should configure Google AdMob family settings on the device. BlackFox holds no user data to delete.
Data Security
Your device is the primary security boundary. The app relies on the platform permission and sandboxing model and stores its local data in the app's private area, inaccessible to other apps. On rooted or jailbroken devices, these guarantees may not hold.
Changes To This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes to the app or the law. Material changes are reflected in the Last Updated date and noted in the in-app About & Terms screen. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
Affiliation
This app is an independent study aid and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the American Council on Education (ACE), GED Testing Service LLC, or by Pearson VUE. "GED" and "GED Testing Service" are registered trademarks of the American Council on Education, used under license by GED Testing Service LLC; all trademarks belong to their respective owners.
